Statement from House Leader Kionne McGhee

As the 2020 Legislative Session comes to a close, I want to inform you on the latest updates as it relates to the current pandemic.

As you may be aware, the Governor has issued a state of emergency. I want to assure the residents of our District and throughout the State, we are working with the Governor and state Health officials to provide the most up to date information on the coronavirus.

I am closely monitoring all recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health. Until this pandemic is contained, our Campaign for District 9 Commissioner will have limited campaign events and activities.

Our priority is the safety and well being of every resident of our community and our State.

We advise everyone to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this virus.

Remember to wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds! Key times include after touching door handles and surfaces that are frequently touched by other people, or after coughing.

If you have any questions, you can visit the Florida Department of Health at or call the 24/7 Hotline 1-866-779-6121. For information on Miami-Dade County’s response and updates to the coronavirus, visit

Please keep you and your families safe. We will get through this together. Thank you for your continued support.
